Brandy Antique Doll Repaint Fix
I present to you brandy. Brandy is an antique repaint/fix-up i just finished this morning who is looking for her very own family to love her. Horsman precious sleepy baby – line that started back in 1865. Imported to america before making an establishment here in the 1920’s, brandy dates around 1939 – made in the usa. She has her original cloth body that i reinforced with the premie onsie she sports under her beautiful white dress. Her eyes are particularly clear and vibrant and didn’t need any altering other than freshened up lashes. My process entails a delicate and light rub down with rubbing alcohol, sealing and hot glue sculpting of weak or cracked areas in the dolls hands, head and legs, followed by touch-ups with color matched acrylic paint. Then adding the finishing touches of my gold – inspired by kintsugi (, “golden joinery”), also known as kintsukuroi (, “golden repair”), in the japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object. The embodiment of embracing flaws and projecting them as beautiful. I then seal with a clear coat shine. Not recommended for young children. This item is made of art and acrylic paint, paint, fake flowers, hot glue, dress, doll.
