Joan of arc was a saint and a heroine of france. As a young girl, she received visions where god told her to lead an army to defeat the english, and this eventually cost her her life. I was moved by this character, and decided i’d like to recreate her, hand-sculpting her head with oven-baked clay and putting it on a posable barbie dolls body. Her armor was made from pie plate tin, that was cut and formed to fit her body, and it has trim accents and a type of crest on the breastplate. She wears a long red skirt, and her shoes are made from cardboard, tape and then painted. Her sleeves are made from painted material, and her neck-piece and shoulder armor are made from pieces of plastic bottles, that are painted silver. Other details include, a belt around her waist, another belt with a sword made from wire, a popsicle stick, and pieces of jewellery. She stands 11 inches tall and can be posed, but i have her in a praying position, like i saw in a picture. Her beautiful face is hand-painted and she wears dolls hair. She was made in a smoke-free home and is intended for display. An artists signature ribbon is attached to the back of her dress with a brad. This item is made of clay and tin, material, paint, plastic, doll body.
